Question: Sam saved \$32 in 4 weeks. He saved the same amount of money each week How much did he save a week? Need to know how to answer in model method form.

Answer:

Step 1: This question involves the Division Concept. Since Sam saved \$32 in 4 weeks, we draw 4 boxes to represent the total amount of money he saved and draw a long bracket on top to show that the total saved is \$32. Thus 1 box must be equivalent to the amount of money saved in a week.

From the model,

4 units ---------- \$32

1 unit ---------- \$32 / 4 = \$8

Therefore, he saved \$8 a week.
